BCSO investigating stabbing at Satilla River

Arrest made in Friendly Express breaking and entering case.

ATKINSON — The July 4 holiday was quite active with criminal activity in Brantley County, said Sheriff Len Davis, who reported a stabbing at the Satilla River in the Atkinson community early Monday, July 5.

“We had an incident down at the river and one man got stabbed,” said Davis. “The victim was transported to the hospital, but I don’t know how bad it was.”

Davis said he was called out about 1 a.m., Monday and was out the entire night until about 6 a.m.

“We’re still trying to put all the pieces together,” said Davis, who noted that the official report would not be ready for a day or so as investigators are still probing the event.

In an unrelated incident, Sheriff Davis said a breaking and entering took place at the Friendly Express convenience store at the intersection of Post Road and Highway 82 about 2 a.m., Thursday, July 1. One person was arrested in connection with the incident.
